Elric as Anti-Hero

While Disney and Amazon continue their journey of Retconning fiction to reinforce Woke corporate control of Mass narratives, I take comfort in the knowledge that the Elric of Melniboné by Michael Moorcock Saga Will never fit their agenda.

Elric of Melniboné is the anti-Tolkien anti-Hero who isn’t out to fix the world, only his part of it.

There is no arc of redemption, no Christian salvation, no simple triumph of “Good vs Evil.”

Rather there are only the natural forces of Order and Chaos, Negentropy and Entropy each with their own critical role to play in the Cosmos.

How one navigates and works with these forces is the degree to which one is or isn’t successful in fulfilling one’s purpose.

In the process of his quest, Elric thus calls on whatever forces he needs to fulfill his mission, albeit guided by his own internal code of honor.

The Elric Saga is essentially a Greek Tragedy riddled with pathos, and it just doesn’t fit the simple-minded notion that the good guys win and the bad guys are defeated in the end.

In Elric there is only Daemonicly inspired destiny, the balance of the elements, the calling on forces to strengthen one’s success in fulfilling that purpose, and the eternal balance in constant dynamic flux and cyclical return.

Elric is thus the quintessential Anti-Christian Thelemic narrative and works against the entire trajectory of the dominant culture.

Because of this, it will never be suitable for Disney, Amazon, or any other entity that wants us to remain children spoon-fed their consumer-minded saccharine.
