One Star in the Company of Stars
“I believe in one secret and ineffable LORD, and in one Star in the Company of Stars of whose fire we are created, and to which we shall return” (Creed from the Gnostic Mass)
Some people critique that Americans are too individualistic and thus not amenable to cooperative and communitarian efforts.
I actually think it’s the opposite.
Americans are pushed toward superficial individualism just as those in collectivist societies are pushed toward superficial collectivism. Both are socially scripted ideals rooted in cultural orientations that lack a higher or deeper trajectory than historical habits.
The real problem is in depthless surfaces either individual or collectivist. A flatland culture of surfaces promotes polarized pinball solutions either focusing on the “self” or the “other.”
If you go deep into your unique and distinct individuality, or what in Thelema we call the True Will, you simultaneously connect to the larger orbits of particular stars around you that you’re meant to.
Not all stars will find common orbits with other stars just like not everybody has chemistry with everyone in relationships.
This is a good thing.
It’s in unique and distinct alchemy of well-fitted connections that evolutionary novelty emerges, not in the muddling of enforced relating.
Ultimately one must go deeper or higher to find one’s unique star and orbit among the company of fellow stars your common destiny calls you toward.
